Sound
What is sound, and how the ear receives and interprets it ?
|
Sound is a type of energy, it travels from one place to another. Sound is made when something moves or vibrates. This creates noise, your ears can detect the vibrations and that is what we hear once the brain has converted the vibrations into a signal that our brain understand. There are many different ways to create the sound vibration for example musical instruments. When you hit the skin of a drum it vibrates and the sound vibration travels into your ear.

Limitiations of Human hearing |
The lowest frequency a human being can hear is 20 hertz and the highest frequency is 20,000 hertz approximately. Older people do not hear higher frequencies aswell because of damage to the cochlea. The cochlea is where the different frequencies are recognised.
